How this works:
We are creating a pool of music makers who want to participate and recruiting venues for these artists. Currently we do not have specific schedules posted but two weeks before the event we hope to have enough details so that everyone will find their best music making experience.
These artists are listed as part of the network of music makers contributing to the fun of Make Music Day Chattanooga 2022. You may find them performing at an open mic or as a featured artist at one of our listed venues. If you represent a venue and want to contact one of the artists please try their website first then if necessary send us an email and we will forward it to them: chattanooga@makemusicday.org
Note: listing here is not required for participation in MMD. There are open mic opportunities which only require showing up. MMD encourages music making all over the city in any unaffiliated events.

Ryan Oyer:
Dad, Singer/Songwriter, Artist, Radio Host
Ryan has contributed his talents in various forms every year since 2016. In 2021 he collaborated with the Somersault String Ensemble to perform a collection of Beatles music in a show titled, “Ticket to Ride” hosted by Gate 11 Distillery. It was an amazing contribution to Make Music Day and we are expecting something special in 2022.

C-Grimey is a well known and respected performer and event organizer. He has participated in MMD since Music On The Move in 2017. It is great to have him back to lead us in more music making experience.

Ed Bergin:
Piano accordionist-played for SoundCorps for 5 years (2016-2020). Taught at the Mountain Arts Community Center (since 2015). Play in a variety of styles and settings- some solo and some duo or ensemble. Have played Gypsy Jazz, klezmer, Celtic, Latin and more.
Will perform at downtown branch library on the plaza at 3 PM.

August wrote the new theme song which is the soundtrack for the slideshow!
Of August is the music of a Chattanooga-based songwriter known as August. Armed with a voice that can captivate the most diverse of audiences, August delivers folk-rock melodies with a strong pop sensibility. Lyrics that soothe the soul and explore topics on life, love, and faith are common themes alongside August’s upbeat rhythmic guitars that compels audiences to stand and sing along. Of August is at the moment, a solo acoustic act, but you might see other collaborators at certain events.

Stringer’s Ridge:
Presenting a mix of exciting instrumentals and ear-catching vocal numbers, Stringer’s Ridge crosses musical and geographic boundaries. Their music has diverse and eclectic influences, with and a strong focus on Celtic, Folk & String Band music—but they can also veer off into other eclectic/world/fiddle genres.

I have performed the Revelry room to the granfalloon to Ziggys. I have performed in ATL and Nash as well. I am an Emo Trap, Alternative, ant-pop artist. I bring fun high energy to songs in minor keys. I am accessible and enigmatic!!

B# Collective
I’ve loved music since I was four. In high school, I picked up a bassoon in band and ended up graduating from the New World School of the Arts! I’ve played and taught and composed for 25 years, completing a degrees in Music Performance from the University of Miami and advanced degrees from Cincinnati Conservatory of Music. Along the way, I realized how much I love not just playing and composing music, but sharing it with others.

His Call Gospel Singers
We have been singing together since 2018 in assisted living homes and churches. Craig has been playing guitar and piano since he was 13 years old. He had the largest Rock’n’Roll band in Chattanooga in 1962 with 11 members. He sings rock, oldies and Gospel. Debby has been singing Gospel music since 2000.

Joseph Ridolfo
Multi Instrumentalist. Sitar, dulcimer, American folklore, ragtime Mummer.
Joe Ridolfo started playing banjo as a Mummer, a marching band unique to the Greater Philadelphia area. I’m 1967-70, Joe moved to India where he learned sitar. He met Ravi Shankar on several occasions and experienced events that included the Beatles while they were in India. Joe attended MTSU in Murfreesboro and studied regional folk music and has won numerous awards for his dulcimer skills. Joe moved to Chattanooga in 1987 and was a Teaching Artist for Allied Arts/Artsbuild. He was also one of the original street performers for the Aquarium and the Smithsonian Folk Life Festival and still plays thanks to Sound Corps. He has also performed for many festivals across the Southeast. Notable bands: Music of the Cumberlands, Joe Boss, Tulsi Fusion band, Organized KAOS and many improvised bands for special occasions.
Will perform on the downtown library plaza at 3:45 and others are invited to join him at 4:15 for jamming in key of C. Bring any instrument you prefer and have a great time making music!
Katrina Barclay
Katrina Barclay’s voice is known to captivate an audience. Josh Pickard of nooga.com writes, “…it’s the absolute sense of earnestness and plainspoken emotion that comes through, giving each song a ragged but sympathetic appearance.” Guitar riffs influenced by alternative rock and blues lend an edge that cuts gently into preconceptions. Although Katrina was raised on gospel bluegrass in Bryant, AL her music comes from a resounding need to be vulnerable through writing songs about life and its beauty and struggles. A decade of performing and recording brought her to the stage of The Bluebird Café in Nashville, TN in 2019 upon winning a statewide songwriting competition in Chattanooga. Katrina’s debut LP “Element” was recorded and produced by Rome’s Austen Earp and released in 2016.

In the Company of Wolves
In the Company of Wolves is a brother-sister duo from Portland, Maine who combine their love for songwriting with a passion for story-telling. Inspired by some of their favorite musical influences, including Novo Amor, Bon Iver, and Mumford and Sons, Sydney and Brayden use their unique sound (think Glen Hansard meets Phoebe Bridgers) to share their passion and commitment to making sure youth, especially those struggling with their mental health, feel seen, heard, and loved.

Richard Daigle
Richard is a local leader in creating communities of singer-songwriters. He hosts Songwriters Circle on Thursday nights at Puckett’s and many other events. Any event he participates in on MMD will have an extra boost of great quality and fun!

Timothy Hawn
is a Classically trained musician with more than 16 years of experience in performing and entertaining. He has performed in many venues including: The Smithsonian Museum, several locations in Ireland, and Disney World, and also plays a variety of genres from Jazz to Rock and Roll. Timothy regularly does volunteer performances for nursing homes as well as numerous public events and has participated in a diverse range of activities involving: theatre, opera, choir, accompaniment, and conducting.

Theta Therapy
Jennifer Kearns is a classically trained French hornist, and holds a Bachelor’s degree in French horn performance from the University of Kentucky, a Master’s degree in French horn performance from USC Los Angeles, and also obtained her K-12 music education license from UNLV and has 10 years teaching experience. Performance Credits include Lady Gaga, Rihanna, Kanye West, Josh Groban, Hugh Jackman, Bernadette Peters, Jennifer Lopez, and more. As a classical musician, her credits include the Pittsburgh Opera, Chamber Orchestra of Los Angeles, Paramount Studio Orchestra, Lexington Philharmonic, and the River City Brass Band. As a touring artist, Jennifer was the French horn featured soloist for both the Emmy award-winning Broadway show “Blast!” as well as the Japan-based tour of “Odyssey.” Her Broadway credits include Lion King, Phantom of the Opera, West Side Story, Beauty and the Beast, Ragtime, and Porgy and Bess. Most recently, Jennifer performed full-time in Steve Wynn’s Showstoppers at the Wynn, Las Vegas.

Joylene is an Americana singer songwriter based in Chattanooga, TN. She loves being a part of the local music community and performs a heart felt mix of personal songs blended with popular songs made new.

Shawnessey
Shawnessey is a Chattanooga singer-songwriter who plays a variety of folk/rockish original and cover tunes. Think Sufjan Stevens meets Neil Young Performs solo, with a standup bassist, or with a full band and hosts a regular Tuesday night open mic night. Passionate about youth mentoring, Shawnessey is a big proponent of capable individuals investing time in at-risk youth through foster care or as a Big Brother/Big Sister.

Buddy Shirk
Buddy hosts an event we call Buddy Shirk’s Piano Bar, which is a combination of featured performers and open mic – or open piano stage. This year he and his piano will be inside the lobby of the downtown library.
